Presidency Reacts To Claim That President Tinubu Is Planning To Assassinate Former VP, Atiku

The Presidency has reacted to claim that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is planning to assassinate the former Vice President and ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

This was contained in a post that was shared on the official X handle of Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.

In the statement that surfaced online, Onanuga stated that the allegation was made by one of the chieftains of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Timi Frank. He said Timi Frank must prove what he said because it’s a grave allegation. He urged security operatives to invite the ADC chieftain for questioning.

“Our attention has been drawn to the statement by Timi Frank, a member of the African Democratic Congress, alleging that the Nigerian Government is plotting to assassinate former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. This is a grave allegation that Mr Frank must prove”.
