One UI 9 on the Galaxy S24 UItra, S25 Ultra, and S26 Ultra

One UI 9 brings many of the same improvements to the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S25, and Galaxy S26 series. Owners of all three generations get new Galaxy AI tools, home screen changes, and updates to Samsung’s apps and settings. The differences are mostly in the camera, though the S24 also misses two notification features available on the newer phones. Here’s what each generation offers after updating. What Galaxy AI features are available on these phones? All three lineups get Call Brief, My FanCam, Now Nudge, and custom cards for Now Brief. Call Brief can show useful information during calls, such as a shared calendar event or the local time when you call an international number. The S24’s settings screen leaves out the Personal Data Intelligence explanation shown on the newer models, but the feature serves the same purpose. Daniel Scuteri / SamMobile Galaxy AI features in One UI 9.0 My FanCam lets you select someone in an existing video and create a cropped version that follows them. You can use it with older recordings, including clips taken before the One UI 9 update. Now Nudge, which was only available on the S26 series before One UI 9, suggests actions based on what’s happening on your phone, like presenting the option to add a calendar event if a message mentions a date and time. Abhijeet Mishra / SamMobile Now Nudge in One UI 9 Custom Now Brief cards let you choose weather, health, or video information and set when it should appear. You can have up to three custom cards at any time. SamMobile Creating Now Brief custom cards The FE models have one exception: Call Brief isn’t available on the S24 FE, S25 FE and S26 FE, even though the latter launched with One UI 9. Home screen and Settings changes are similar You can keep dedicated Google Search and Samsung Finder bars at the bottom of the home screen. Google Search handles web searches, while Finder helps you find apps, settings, and content stored on your phone. These bars are optional. Open the home screen settings and select Show search on Home screen to turn either one on or off. You can use both together or disable both if you prefer. Mihai Matei / SamMobile One UI 9.0 Home Finder settings Mihai Matei / SamMobile One UI 9.0 Home Finder settings All three generations also get Bixby home screen widgets. These let you type or speak to Bixby, which is handy if you want to keep Gemini assigned to the Side button. The updated Bixby can use Perplexity to provide web answers within its own interface. Settings look cleaner across all three as well. Some descriptions have been removed or moved outside the main menu entries. The Galaxy AI menu, for example, shows feature names without the long descriptions beneath them. You can open each item to read more about what it does. Other system improvements are shared, too The Warranty and care menu in the Settings app puts warranty details and support options in one place. It can show information for the phone you’re using and other devices linked to your Samsung account. Troubleshooting, diagnostics, repair requests, and remote support are available from the same menu. This saves you from having to look in several places when you need help with a device. Under Settings > Connected devices, Driving Report can start recording driving information when your phone connects to your car through Bluetooth. It can then provide driving insights and weekly reports. If you use separate desktops for different tasks, you can more easily see what’s open and move between them. There’s also a setting to automatically hide the status bar and taskbar. Daniel Scuteri / SamMobile Samsung DeX menu in One UI 9 Device care’s Block apps with excessive ads option can put apps that send frequent advertising notifications into deep sleep. Its intelligent blocking toggle analyzes notifications to help identify those advertising alerts automatically. All three lineups also get Android 17’s Motion Assist feature. Motion Assist places moving shapes on the screen to help reduce motion sickness when you’re traveling in a vehicle. The Galaxy S24 doesn’t get Notification highlights Notification highlights has two separate features: Summarize notifications and Prioritize notifications. They’re available on the S25 and S26 series, but remain missing on the S24 after One UI 9. Summarize notifications provides short summaries of unread conversations. If several messages have arrived, it can help you catch up without opening every chat. Abhijeet Mishra / SamMobile Notification summary feature Abhijeet Mishra / SamMobile Priority notifications feature Prioritize notifications moves important and time-sensitive alerts toward the top of the notification panel. This makes them easier to find when you have a long list of notifications waiting. You can enable the two features separately or use both together on supported phones. Both were available on the S25 and S26 before One UI 9; the update hasn’t brought them to the S24. New camera features? Galaxy S25 gets some, the S24 doesn’t One UI 9 brings Super Steady with Horizontal Lock to the S25 series. The S26 already offered it with One UI 8.5. Horizontal Lock keeps your recorded video’s horizon completely level even when you tilt or rotate the phone. The S24 still has regular Super Steady, but doesn’t get the Horizontal Lock option. The S25 and S26 also have the newer Dual Recording shortcut in Video mode, along with horizontal and vertical split-layout options for the combined recording. The S24 still supports Dual Recording through its existing mode. The newer shortcut hasn’t been added to its Video mode controls. 24MP option in Photo mode is exclusive to Galaxy S26 series The S26 series lets you enable 24MP shooting in the standard Photo mode through Camera Assistant. This was available before One UI 9 and hasn’t made its way to the S24 or S25 with the update. The S24 and S25 series still offer 12MP, 50MP, and 200MP options in the regular camera app. They can shoot at 24MP through the Expert RAW app (which is also available as a mode in the camera app). Night mode works differently on the Galaxy S26 lineup On the S26 series, Samsung puts Auto, Max, and Off Night mode controls directly in Photo mode. You can change how Night mode is used without switching to a separate shooting mode. The dedicated Night mode is hidden by default, but you can bring it back through Camera Assistant if you prefer having it as a separate option. The S24 and S25 retain the simpler Night shot on/off control in Photo mode and the dedicated Night mode. The Galaxy S26 offers more Pro video frame rates The S26 also offers additional video frame rates in Pro video mode. On the Ultra models, the differences look like this: ResolutionGalaxy S24 UltraGalaxy S25 UltraGalaxy S26 UltraFHD and UHD (4K)120, 60, 30, 24 fps120, 60, 30, 24 fps120, 60, 48, 30, 24, 100, 50, 25 fps8K30, 24 fps30, 24 fps30, 24, 25 fps The S24 and S25 series miss these additional frame-rate options. If you normally record at 30 or 60 fps, this may not change how you use the camera. But if you specifically want options such as 50 fps for 4K or 25 fps for 8K, those are available on the S26 series.
