List Of Leaders From Western And Nairobi Who Accompanied Edwin Sifuna In Mathira To Visit Gachagua.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna led a delegation of political leaders to visit former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at his Wamunyoro residence in Mathira, Nyeri County, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.

The visit attracted attention as opposition leaders continued consultations ahead of the 2027 General Election. The delegation included politicians from Western Kenya and Nairobi who are associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement.

Among those who accompanied Sifuna was Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, a prominent political figure from Western Kenya. Natembeya has been vocal on national political issues and has called for changes in government leadership.

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi was also reported among the leaders who joined the delegation. Osotsi has been associated with discussions about the future of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the direction of opposition politics.

Bumula MP Jack Wamboka was another Western Kenya politician linked to the gathering. His presence highlighted the participation of legislators from the region in engagements involving different opposition groups.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino also accompanied Sifuna to Wamunyoro. Owino has been an active participant in the Linda Mwananchi movement, which has attracted attention because of its political activities and discussions about leadership ahead of the next election.

Other reported members of the delegation included political commentator Pauline Njoroge and former Law Society of Kenya president Faith Odhiambo.

The meeting came at a time when opposition leaders were exploring possible partnerships and discussing how to approach the 2027 presidential contest. Gachagua has maintained that opposition figures need consultations to establish a working arrangement before settling on a presidential candidate.

Although the visit demonstrated engagement between leaders from different political camps, it did not automatically confirm a formal coalition or agreement on a joint presidential ticket.

The meeting is likely to remain part of the wider discussion about opposition unity, regional representation and the process of selecting a flagbearer.

As the election approaches, further meetings and statements from the leaders may clarify whether their engagement will lead to a formal political arrangement.
