Governor Patrick Ntutu Embraces Maa Traditions As He Leads Mashujaa Day Celebrations In Narok
Governor Patrick Ntutu made a cultural statement on Tuesday after stepping out in full Maa traditional attire as he led Mashujaa Day celebrations at Esoit Naibor Primary School in Kimintet Ward, Kilgoris Constituency.
The governor embraced his community’s heritage through his outfit as residents gathered to mark the national holiday, which honours Kenyans who have contributed to the country’s freedom, development and progress.
Ntutu announced his arrival at the venue in a social media post, sharing details of his participation in the celebrations.
“This morning, I arrived at Esoit Naibor Primary School, Kimintet Ward, Kilgoris Constituency for Mashujaa Day celebrations,” he stated.
His choice of traditional attire highlighted the importance of preserving cultural identity during national events that bring together communities from different parts of the country.
Mashujaa Day provides an opportunity for Kenyans to remember freedom fighters, national leaders and ordinary citizens whose contributions have helped shape the country.
The celebrations also offer communities a platform to showcase their traditions, customs & cultural practices.
In Narok County, Maa culture remains an important part of the region’s identity, with traditional clothing serving as a visible expression of heritage & belonging.
Ntutu’s appearance placed that cultural identity at the centre of his participation in the local celebrations, as residents gathered at the primary school to observe the occasion.
The governor’s attendance also brought the national event closer to residents of Kimintet Ward and the wider Kilgoris area, allowing the community to mark the day within its own locality.
Mashujaa Day is observed annually on October 20, with celebrations held across Kenya to recognise the sacrifices and achievements of citizens who have played a role in the nation’s story.
