Kenyans React as Sifuna Opens the Door to Working With This Prominent Figure Ahead of 2027

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has thanked former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for welcoming him and other Linda Mwananchi leaders to his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County.

Sifuna expressed hope that the meeting would mark the beginning of more engagements aimed at bringing opposition leaders together ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a message shared after the meeting on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Sifuna thanked Gachagua and his wife, Dorcas, for hosting the delegation during the Mashujaa Day celebrations.

“We believe this is the first of many engagements that will foster unity within the opposition as we gear up for the General Elections. Mbele kuzuri,” Sifuna stated.

The meeting came just hours after Gachagua returned to Kenya following a stay of nearly two months in the United States.

The DCP party leader received Sifuna and other leaders associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement at his rural home, with photographs from the gathering later shared publicly.

The visit has drawn attention because both leaders have been linked to efforts to bring opposition groups together as political activities ahead of the 2027 polls continue.

Among those present were Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, alongside other political figures.

Gachagua welcomed the delegation and expressed optimism about their meeting, describing the visitors as his cousins from Linda Mwananchi.

The engagement also comes amid discussions about possible cooperation between Gachagua’s DCP and the Linda Mwananchi movement, which has gained attention through Sifuna and other leaders.

However, neither side announced a formal coalition agreement following the meeting. The details of any future arrangement, including how the groups would cooperate, remain to be established.

With the 2027 General Election approaching, the meeting adds another development to ongoing opposition unity discussions.

Do you think Sifuna and Gachagua will reach a political agreement before the 2027 elections?
