“I Am Not Tribal” Gachagua’s Bold Plea Message to Sifuna and Linda Mwananchi Team at Wamunyoro

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has told Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and other Linda Mwananchi leaders that he wants them to work together, insisting that tribalism should not stand in the way of political unity.

Speaking at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri, Gachagua made his position clear as hue engaged the delegation led by Sifuna, signalling his willingness to cooperate with leaders from different political and regional backgrounds.

“I want us to be together. I am not tribal,” Gachagua told the team.

The remarks put the spotlight on the possibility of closer ties between Gachagua’s DCP and the Linda Mwananchi movement, which has attracted leaders critical of the broad-based government associated with President William Ruto.

Gachagua’s appeal comes as opposition leaders face growing pressure to find common ground ahead of the 2027 General Election. Although they share criticism of the government, differences in political strategy and party loyalties could complicate efforts to build a united front.

By declaring that he wants to work with Sifuna and his colleagues, Gachagua appeared keen to move beyond regional political boundaries and establish a broader working relationship.

The meeting, however, does not automatically translate into a formal alliance. Whether the engagement will produce a joint political strategy remains to be seen.

For now, Gachagua’s message is unmistakable: he wants cooperation with the Linda Mwananchi brigade and insists that tribal considerations should not prevent them from working together.
