Sifuna Speaks After Closed Door Meeting With Gachagua, States The Following

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has broken his silence after the private meeting with Democracy for the Citizens Party leader Rigathi Gachagua at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri. He spoke through a post on X on Tuesday October 20.

Sifuna thanked Gachagua and his wife Mama Dorcas for inviting the Linda Mwananchi team to their home. He said the movement was grateful for the warm welcome it received during the visit.

The senator described the engagement as the first of many. He said he believes such meetings will foster unity within the opposition as leaders gear up for the General Elections.

He ended his message with the Swahili words Mbele kuzuri which means a good future lies ahead.

The post carried photographs of the meeting. One of them shows Sifuna seated in a gold-coloured chair in a plush sitting room. He is flanked by Nyandarua Senator John Methu and Gachagua. All three men appear to be in a calm and relaxed discussion.

The meeting took place hours after Gachagua returned from a nearly two-month tour of the United States. A larger delegation from Linda Mwananchi had earlier visited the home. It included Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.

Methu had earlier said that the leaders could not accept extra time. Many read this as a rejection of a presidential runoff in 2027. Gachagua also told the visitors that he is not tribal and wants them to be together.

No formal alliance or joint ticket has been announced. However the tone of the three leaders shows a shared push to unite the opposition against President William Ruto.
