How Group B Table Looks Like After Nigeria Won 2:0

According to a report by ESPN on Tuesday October 20, 2026, Nigeria’s Flamingos have revived their hopes of progressing to the knockout stage of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after recording a 2-0 victory over Puerto Rico in their second Group B match in Morocco. The result gives the Nigerian team three valuable points following their disappointing 2-1 defeat to Poland in their opening fixture.

The Flamingos produced a much-improved performance against Puerto Rico, with Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opening the scoring in the 25th minute. Nigeria maintained their advantage before Precious Oscar scored in stoppage time to seal a deserved 2-0 victory. The result puts Nigeria back in contention as the battle for qualification intensifies in Group B.

North Korea remain at the top of the group after making an impressive start to their campaign. The defending champions defeated Puerto Rico 6-0 in their opening match before recording another emphatic victory, beating Poland 6-1 on Tuesday. Those results leave North Korea with six points from two matches and an outstanding goal difference of plus 1.

Poland, meanwhile, have three points after winning their opening match against Nigeria but suffering a heavy 6-1 defeat to North Korea in their second game. The result has significantly affected their goal difference, leaving them behind Nigeria in that department despite having the same number of points..

Nigeria’s position has improved significantly following the victory. The Flamingos are now second in Group B, ahead of Poland on goal difference, while Puerto Rico remain at the bottom without a point.

However, Nigeria still have an important challenge ahead. Their final group-stage match will be against North Korea on Friday October 23, and the Nigerian youngsters will need another strong performance to strengthen their chances of reaching the Round of 16.

With three points already secured, the Flamingos have given themselves a fresh opportunity to progress. Their next match could prove decisive in determining their final position in Group B and their route into the knockout stage.
