How Chelsea Could Line Up with Alex Scott

According to a report by footballTransfers on Tuesday October 20, 2026, Chelsea are reportedly preparing to renew their pursuit of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott when the January transfer window opens.

The Blues made several attempts to sign the England international during the summer, but Bournemouth rejected their offers. With Chelsea still keen to strengthen their midfield, a fresh bid could be on the way.

Bournemouth are believed to value Scott at more than €100 million. The club were initially reluctant to let him leave midway through the season, but reports suggest they could consider a sale if their asking price is met.

Chelsea may also face competition from Liverpool, while Scott is reportedly interested in a move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s midfield has looked more settled since Moisés Caicedo returned from injury. Jordan Henderson has partnered the Ecuadorian in recent matches, but Scott could bring a different mix of qualities to the team.

The 23-year-old is composed in possession, energetic when pressing and comfortable operating in tight spaces.

Those strengths could help Chelsea move the ball through midfield and create openings against opponents who defend deep.

Scott’s style may also complement Caicedo’s, giving the side a balanced partnership capable of contributing both with and without the ball.

If Chelsea complete the transfer, Scott could slot into the starting lineup alongside Caicedo in a two-man midfield.

His arrival would give Xabi Alonso another option in the centre of the pitch and could add depth to a squad competing across multiple competitions.

The rest of Chelsea’s formation may remain largely unchanged. Emiliano Martínez could continue in goal, with Josh Acheampong, Maxence Lacroix and Levi Colwill forming the back three. Pedro Neto is expected to feature on the right, while Jorrel Hato could take the left-sided role.

Further forward, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers could operate behind JoĂŁo Pedro. That attacking trio would offer creativity, movement and a goal threat, with Scott helping to supply them from midfield.
