Hearts of Oak trio, Kotoko duo earn spots in GPL Team of the Week

Three Hearts of Oak players have been named in the Team of the Week for Matchday 7 of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season following their impressive performances across the weekend fixtures.

Goalkeeper and captain Benjamin Asare, Henry K. Boateng and Kelvin Osei Asibey were the three Phobians selected in the team compiled by former Black Stars goalkeeper Fatau Dauda.

Asare earned his place after recording another clean sheet and was handed the captain’s armband, while Boateng and Asibey were rewarded for their outstanding displays in Hearts of Oak’s 1-0 victory over Vision FC.

Their inclusion gives Hearts of Oak the highest representation among all clubs featured in the latest Team of the Week.

FC Samartex 1996 followed with two representatives, with Christian Agyenim Boateng and Akwasi Sarpong making the cut after their contributions to the team’s performance.

Asante Kotoko also secured two spots through Hubert Gyau and Emmanuel Sanja, while the remaining positions went to Eric Wiafe Darkwah of Swedru All Blacks FC, Richard Owusu of Debibi United FC, Abubakar Adams of Aduana FC and Zackaria Fuseini of Berekum Chelsea FC.

Berekum Chelsea head coach Kwame Danso was named the coach of the week after guiding his side to an impressive 2-0 away victory over Hearts of Lions at Kpando.

The selections highlight the standout individual performances from Matchday 7 as clubs continue their battle for supremacy in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign.
