El Clasico to feature 40 cameras with special focus on Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe

According to a report by GOAL on Tuesday October 20, 2026, La Liga is preparing an extensive television production for Sunday’s El Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid, with up to 40 cameras expected to be deployed at Camp Nou.

According to reports, the broadcast setup will include dedicated tracking cameras focused on Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe throughout the highly anticipated encounter.

The arrangement is designed to capture the movements of both attacking stars, highlighting their contributions during one of the biggest fixtures in world football.

The planned production will also feature 4K technology, super slow-motion cameras and specialist lenses to provide viewers with detailed coverage of the action.

Ordinary La Liga matches involving Barcelona or Real Madrid typically require at least 22 cameras, while major fixtures such as El Clasico can receive between 35 and 40 cameras under the league’s highest broadcast classification.

The additional equipment will also provide more angles for the Technical Committee of Referees and Video Assistant Referee (VAR) officials to assess important incidents during the game.

The special attention on Yamal and Mbappe comes as both players remain prominent names in discussions surrounding the Ballon d’Or. The timing of the match, reportedly less than 24 hours before the awards ceremony, adds further intrigue to their individual performances.

Meanwhile, Barcelona will enter the contest seeking to maintain their impressive start to the league campaign under Hansi Flick, having collected 27 points from their opening nine matches.

Real Madrid, managed by Jose Mourinho, sit third on 21 points after their recent 4-1 victory over Sevilla.

With six points separating the rivals, Sunday’s encounter could have significant implications for the early title race.
