Dangote Accepts Bae U’s Invitation to Appear on ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’

According to report by TVC News on Tuesday, October 20, 2026,Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has accepted an invitation from Nigerian content creator Adebayo Ridwan, popularly known as Bae U Barbie, to appear on his YouTube show, Curiosity Made Me Ask.

Dangote accepted the invitation during Bae U’s visit to the Dangote Refinery in Lagos on Monday, following the content creator’s appeal for the billionaire businessman to engage more directly with younger Nigerians through digital platforms.

Bae U argued that although many young Nigerians were interested in Dangote’s business activities, investments and future plans, most of the businessman’s media appearances had been on platforms that did not attract younger audiences.

He also noted that young Nigerians were interested in learning more about Dangote’s proposed initial public offering (IPO), which could provide an opportunity for investors to acquire shares in his business.

“Most of the interviews we’ve seen you have been on platforms that my generation don’t watch,” Bae U said.

Clarifying that he was not suggesting that Dangote replace his media team, the content creator urged the billionaire to make time for an appearance on his programme.

“I’m not saying you should sack your media team. No, but you know, when you finish,” he said before asking when Dangote would be available to feature on Curiosity Made Me Ask.

Responding to the request, Dangote acknowledged the importance of engaging younger audiences, describing young people as central to Nigeria’s and Africa’s future.

“Honestly, the future that we have is actually you, the youth. We, our own generation, really, we have not really done very well for Nigeria and also for Africa. That’s the truth,” the businessman said.

He explained that older generations had a responsibility to share their experiences with younger people to help them understand the country’s development and learn valuable lessons from the past.

“So we need to sit down with some of you and discuss our own experience with you,” he added.

Dangote also expressed concern that some young Nigerians might not be sufficiently familiar with historical events and prominent political figures who played significant roles in the country’s development.

He cited former President Olusegun Obasanjo as an example, prompting Bae U to interject in defence of his own contribution to making prominent personalities accessible to younger audiences.

“Thanks to me. I gave him the platform, sir,” the content creator said, apparently referring to his interview with the former president.

Dangote subsequently agreed that digital platforms with strong appeal among young people should feature more prominently in his media engagements.

“So really, you are right. Going forward, this sort of audience is the audience that we, somebody like me, should actually face,” he said.

The billionaire also spoke about the respect and support he receives from young people, including Nigerians who approach him for photographs during his travels abroad.

Recounting an experience from his youth, Dangote recalled travelling to Washington with his grandfather, where they met prominent individuals and requested photographs with them.

He said the experience influenced his attitude towards people who approach him for photographs, explaining why he is often willing to accommodate such requests.

Dangote also clarified the meaning behind a photograph of him that attracted attention on social media, dismissing suggestions that he was seeking additional blessings.

“I wasn’t begging for anything. What I was saying, I was just saying that, God, you have overblessed me,” he said.

The businessman eventually confirmed his willingness to appear on Bae U’s show, signalling an opportunity for younger Nigerians to hear about his entrepreneurial journey and the experiences that shaped his business career.

“We will come,” Dangote said in response to the invitation.

He further indicated that the proposed engagement should provide an opportunity for young people to ask questions about how he established his businesses, overcame challenges and achieved success.
