Bank Of Ghana Releases Daily Exchange Rates For October 20 2026
The Bank of Ghana has released its daily exchange rates for Tuesday, October 20, 2026, providing the latest reference rates for the United States dollar, British pound sterling and euro against the Ghanaian cedi.
According to the figures released by the central bank, the US dollar is being bought at GH¢11.6592 and sold at GH¢11.6708. The rates provide an indication of the cedi’s value against the American currency and serve as a reference for foreign exchange transactions.
For the British pound sterling, the Bank of Ghana has quoted a buying rate of GH¢15.5067 and a selling rate of GH¢15.5234. The pound remains the highest-valued currency among the three major foreign currencies listed in the published rates.
The euro, which is widely used across several European countries, has a buying rate of GH¢13.0638 and a selling rate of GH¢13.0756.
The figures were published on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, and represent the average interbank exchange rates used by commercial banks for transactions at the close of business on Monday, October 19, 2026.
The distinction between buying and selling rates is important for individuals and businesses conducting foreign exchange transactions. The buying rate represents the rate at which banks purchase foreign currency, while the selling rate indicates the rate at which they sell it. Actual rates offered by financial institutions and forex bureaux may differ.
Exchange rates are important to Ghana’s economy because they influence the cost of imported goods, international payments, travel expenses and business transactions involving foreign currencies. Movements in the cedi against major currencies can also affect importers, exporters and consumers.
Businesses that depend on imported raw materials and finished products closely monitor these rates when calculating their operating costs and setting prices. Similarly, individuals sending or receiving money from abroad may use the figures as a reference when assessing currency conversion values.
The latest publication provides an official reference for market participants monitoring movements in the Ghanaian cedi against major international currencies.
