Real Madrid Superstar Wins The Onze d’Or Award Days Before Ballon d’Or Ceremony

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Monday October 19, 2026, Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has won the Onze d’Or award just days before the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony, strengthening his hopes of claiming football’s most prestigious individual honour.

The French international has enjoyed an outstanding year in front of goal, although his lack of major trophies could affect his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or.

Mbappe emerged as the leading scorer in La Liga, the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA World Cup during the period under consideration. His remarkable individual performances have placed him among the leading contenders for the Ballon d’Or. However, his failure to win major silverware with Real Madrid and France has left him facing strong competition.

The Onze d’Or is presented by readers of French football magazine Onze Mondial to recognise the best player in the world over the previous season. Mbappe’s victory comes as a positive sign ahead of the Ballon d’Or announcement on October 26.

Previous winners of the Onze d’Or have frequently gone on to claim the Ballon d’Or. Ousmane Dembele achieved both honours last season, giving Mbappe another reason to remain optimistic about his prospects.

Despite this development, the Real Madrid forward faces several serious challengers. Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal is considered one of his biggest rivals after helping his club win La Liga, the UEFA Champions League and the Spanish Super Cup. His influential performances throughout the campaign have strengthened his position in the race.

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane is another leading contender. The England international recorded impressive numbers and won domestic trophies with his club, although his World Cup performances were not as remarkable.

Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also remains in contention after playing an important role in his team’s Champions League triumph. However, his absence from the World Cup could count against him.

Although Ballon d’Or voting has already closed, little information about the final result has emerged. Mbappe’s Onze d’Or success offers encouragement, but he must wait until the ceremony to discover whether he has beaten his rivals to the ultimate individual prize.
