Real Madrid Keep Close Watch on Chema Andres After Brighton Move

Real Madrid remain interested in Chema Andres’s development following his move to Brighton & Hove Albion, even though they no longer have the contractual privileges that previously allowed them to re-sign the midfielder, according to Madrid Universal on Monday, October 19, 2026.

The Spanish club are reportedly keeping a close watch on the 20-year-old after he made an encouraging start to life in English football.

Chema’s transfer to Brighton is said to have earned Real Madrid €11.5 million. The amount represents half of the reported €23 million fee, reflecting the Spanish club’s retained 50 per cent stake in the deal. However, the transfer also brought their remaining contractual rights over his future to an end.

As a result, Madrid no longer have a buy-back clause or first option to purchase the player. Brighton now have complete control over decisions concerning his long-term future.

Despite losing those privileges, Real Madrid are reportedly continuing to assess his performances as he adapts to the intensity and demands of Premier League football.

The young Spaniard has allegedly registered 380 minutes in five appearances for Brighton, contributing one goal and one assist. These early performances have provided positive signs that he could develop into a consistent and reliable midfielder.

Chema has been deployed in a deeper role, where he is focusing on improving his possession management, ability to dictate the tempo and contribution to the team’s midfield structure. Further progress in these areas will be essential if he is to secure a regular place in Brighton’s side.

His development could attract renewed attention from Real Madrid in the years ahead. While the club have already received a financial return from his departure, they would have to negotiate with Brighton if they later decide to pursue him again and he establishes himself as a top-level midfielder.

For the time being, Chema’s main objective is to continue performing well in England and prove his worth at Brighton, while Real Madrid follow his progress from a distance.
