PSG conspiracy theory could ignite Chelsea transfer for Fernandez replacement

Chelsea could explore a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Senny Mayulu as they search for a replacement for Enzo Fernandez, according to FootballTransfers on Monday, October 19, 2026. The report suggests that uncertainty surrounding the youngster’s role under PSG manager Luis Enrique could open the door for the Blues.

Chelsea are seeking midfield reinforcements following Fernandez’s transfer to Manchester City on Deadline Day. Their efforts to sign Lamine Camara from Monaco also proved unsuccessful, with the deal falling through during the summer transfer window.

The London club have since been associated with several midfielders, including Bournemouth’s Alex Scott and Roma’s Manu Kone. However, manager Xabi Alonso could consider additional options as he prepares for the challenges ahead in 2027.

Mayulu has emerged as a possible candidate because of his current situation at PSG. Despite agreeing to a contract extension that keeps him at the club until 2031, the 20-year-old has reportedly struggled to earn regular opportunities under Enrique.

The midfielder has already accumulated close to 100 senior appearances for the French giants, underlining his experience despite his relatively young age. However, according to FootballTransfers, he has not featured for the club since the beginning of September.

His reduced playing time has raised questions about his future at the Parc des Princes, especially after PSG brought in former Barcelona prospect Dro Fernandez in January.

The 18-year-old Fernandez has reportedly played 249 minutes this season, significantly more than Mayulu’s 67 minutes. This difference has allegedly prompted concerns within PSG about the limited opportunities being given to players developed through the club’s academy.

There have also been reports of disagreements between Mayulu and PSG earlier this year when discussions over a new contract became complicated.

During those negotiations, the club reportedly questioned the midfielder’s wage demands, while his representatives accused PSG of having “thrown him under the bus”.

The dispute was eventually resolved, with Mayulu signing an extension that secured his future in Paris until 2031.

Nevertheless, Chelsea could offer him a new environment in which to develop his potential and secure more playing time. FootballTransfers reports that SciSports, an analytics company, has given Chelsea a Club Fit score of 81, suggesting that the Premier League club could be a strong match for the midfielder.

Mayulu’s ability to perform in different positions could also appeal to Alonso. Although he does not fit the profile of a traditional central midfielder, his versatility and capacity to contribute in attacking areas could offer Chelsea more options alongside Moises Caicedo.

However, his suitability for a deeper midfield position remains uncertain, particularly given the physical and tactical demands of English football.
