I do not love my husband anymore and I do not want to return to that relationship- Gloria Aminu
A woman, Salamatu Gloria Aminu has alleged that her husband, Jerry Osaga, failed to inform her before their traditional marriage that they would be living in Benin, Edo State.
Aminu said Osaga had assured her that they would return to Abuja after their traditional marriage and church blessing. However, she alleged that upon arriving in Benin, he changed the arrangement and insisted that they remain there.
She further alleged that the domestic violence she experienced continued after their relocation, claiming that her mother-in-law also joined her husband in physically assaulting her.
Aminu added that she had photographs on her phone showing some of the alleged assaults, which she said could serve as evidence of the abuse she endured during the marriage.
Towards the end of the interview, the presenter asked Aminu whether she still loved her husband despite the experiences she had recounted.
Aminu maintained that her main reason for appearing on the programme was to seek justice and recover her children.
“President, I came here so that you could help me get justice and recover my children,” she replied.
When the presenter pressed her further about whether she still had feelings for her husband, she rejected the suggestion.
“I don’t love my husband anymore. After everything I went through in that relationship, I do not want to return to it. I came here because of my children and because I want justice,” she said.
The presenter reiterated his promise to involve NAPTIP in efforts to address the matter and help Aminu recover her children.
