EPL: ‘I don’t care’ – Ferdinand tells Carrick to always start Man Utd star

According to a report by Daily Post on Monday October 19, 2026, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged manager Michael Carrick to continue starting Leny Yoro, insisting that the young defender deserves to keep his place in the team.

Ferdinand made the comments after Manchester United played a 1-1 draw against Leeds United in the Premier League at the weekend.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Presents, the former England international praised Yoro’s defensive performance, particularly his positioning and work at the back post during the first half.

Ferdinand believes Yoro has shown enough quality to remain in the starting lineup, even when other players return from injury.

“I don’t care who gets back fit now, I think he needs to stay in the [starting] team, prove his worth,” Ferdinand said.

Yoro featured at right-back against Leeds and impressed with his defensive contribution, earning strong backing from the former United star.

The French defender joined Manchester United from Lille in 2024 on a five-year contract and is regarded as a player with significant potential.

However, the defender will need to maintain his performances to secure a consistent place in the team as competition for positions increases.
