Police are searching for suspects after about 40 cattle valued at R600,000 were stolen from a plot in Uitsoek, Groblersdal, in Limpopo’s Sekhukhune district.
Limpopo police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba said the theft came to light on Friday when the owner of the plot passed on information to the “complainant” that some cattle appeared to be missing.
On Saturday afternoon, the complainant and flock shepherd went to the plot to investigate. “Upon counting the remaining livestock, they discovered that about 40 cattle were missing,” Ledwaba said. Cattle tracks and footprints were observed at the scene.
Police visited the crime scene, and investigations are under way to establish the circumstances surrounding the theft.
Ledwaba urged anyone with information that could assist the investigation or lead to the recovery of the stolen cattle to contact the police.
The suspects have not yet been identified, and the investigation continues.
