What Natembeya Has Told Ruto After His Latest Nickname That Has Left People Laughing

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has answered President William Ruto with a joke after the president dragged his name into a jab at Edwin Sifuna. Natembeya posted a picture of a whisky bottle labelled John Natembeya Premium, and wrote that it is distilled and blended for those who lead, and not for those who beg.

The post followed Ruto’s speech in West Pokot, where he mocked Sifuna over the launch of his party. The president called it The Empty Party and claimed Sifuna went from the launch straight to a bar.

He alleged that the senator was last seen with Koffi Olomide, at a table full of strong drinks with double names, like Johnnie Walker, Johnnie Natembeya and Jack someone. Ruto offered no proof of the claim, and Sifuna has not responded to it in the details available.

Natembeya’s reply turned the president’s line into a product. The bottle in the photo carries a crown, a mountain and the words Smooth Taste, Lasting Moments, along with 40 percent alcohol content.

It looks like a mockup made as a joke, and nothing suggests that such a whisky exists. The line about those who beg appeared aimed at the president, though Natembeya did not name him.

The governor has been one of the sharper critics of the government, so the post fit his usual style. It also spread fast, collecting tens of thousands of views within hours.

The drinking theme has followed Sifuna for days. Earlier, a commentator warned that alcohol on his table at Fred Obachi Machoka’s jubilee could hurt his presidential image. Ruto’s speech has now pushed the same subject into a bigger audience.

Many Kenyans laughed at the bottle and shared it widely. Others said leaders should spend their time on jobs and prices instead of trading jokes about drinks.
