Reactions As Elderly Ghanaian Woman Expresses Disappointment Over Economic Hardship Under Mahama
According to a report by Ghpage on the 14th of October 2026, an elderly Ghanaian woman popularly known as Mfante Hemaa has expressed deep disappointment in President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), claiming that living conditions have become increasingly difficult since the party returned to power.
Speaking during an interview with GHPage, the woman explained that she had anticipated significant improvements in her living conditions following the NDC’s victory in the 2024 general elections.
However, according to her, the situation has not improved as she expected, leaving her frustrated and worried about her future.
Mfante Hemaa maintained that the economic difficulties she is experiencing have made everyday life challenging, particularly at her advanced age.
She accused the governing party of failing to deliver the relief she had hoped for when President Mahama returned to office.
The elderly woman emotionally described her current circumstances, suggesting that her suffering has increased rather than reduced under the present administration.
According to her, she had expected the government to introduce measures that would make life more comfortable for ordinary citizens, especially elderly people who depend on limited financial resources.
Her remarks reflect her personal dissatisfaction with the government’s performance and the challenges she says she faces in meeting her daily needs.
The woman further suggested that political leaders should pay greater attention to the living conditions of vulnerable citizens rather than focusing solely on political achievements.
Her comments also highlight the importance of assessing government policies based on their effects on ordinary households.
Although Mfante Hemaa strongly criticised the Mahama administration, her personal experience does not necessarily represent the economic circumstances of every Ghanaian.
Nevertheless, her concerns raise questions about how government policies are affecting vulnerable members of society.
The elderly woman’s remarks serve as a reminder that many citizens judge political leadership by improvements in their personal welfare and financial security.
