The Motorists Association of Kenya (MAK) has sharply rebuked the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) over its latest fuel price adjustment, calling the increases an attack on the Kenyan economy rather than a routine regulatory revision.

MAK singled out the kerosene adjustment as particularly difficult to justify, noting that the sharpest price increase falls on the fuel most commonly used by low-income households.
EPRA explains why it increased petrol, diesel and kerosene prices for October-November cycle
The association said EPRA's own landed-cost figures raise questions about the proportionality of the kerosene revision and called for an independent explanation.
The group rejected Kinyua's justifications offered at his October 14 press briefing, stating that repeated references to Middle East conflict, international market conditions, and government cushioning measures do not adequately account for the discrepancies MAK identified in the reported figures.
MAK outlined eight formal demands directed at EPRA, Parliament, the auditor-general, and the Competition Authority of Kenya.

From Thursday, October 15, Nairobi motorists will pay KSh 226.96 per litre of super petrol, KSh 227.76 for diesel, and KSh 219.87 for kerosene.
The adjustments represent increases of KSh 12.93, KSh 9.90, and KSh 28.49 per litre, respectively.
The prices will be effective for the period through November 14, 2026.
