Wike Breaks Silence On Fubara’s 2027 Political Future, Reveals Governor’s Role In Rainbow Coalition

According to a report by The Vanguard on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has been sidelined from the ruling political team.

Speaking during a media chat in Abuja, Wike addressed questions about the governor’s quiet disposition, maintaining that his silence does not mean exclusion.

“Fubara has not been pushed aside. If you know him, he’s been a very quiet person,” Wike stated.

The minister revealed that the governor is deeply involved in the state’s political direction and remains a core member of the Rainbow Coalition.

According to him, Fubara is actively working to secure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027 and recently hosted a crucial, high-level strategic meeting at his residence with key stakeholders.

Wike also addressed past political tensions in the state, blaming external actors and opposition figures for attempting to drive a wedge between them for political gains. He noted that mutual reconciliation has since prevailed, cementing their partnership.

Shedding light on the Rainbow Coalition, Wike explained that the platform bridges different political factions across party lines to support a unified agenda under President Tinubu. He emphasized that the strategy accommodates local peculiarities while maintaining team solidarity.

“When you talk about politicians that agree to form an umbrella, the umbrella does not mean that all the candidates will be one party,” Wike explained.

Furthermore, as the campaign coordinator for Rivers State, Wike confirmed that campaign committee lists have been submitted, positioning Fubara to serve among the primary leaders.

Both leaders are reportedly focused on ensuring their political family retains its influence and power moving forward.
