REST IN PEACE: 22-Year-Old Woman Allegedly Killed by Ex-Boyfriend in Free State

A 22-year-old woman identified as Selloane Molise was reportedly killed in a shooting incident in Bohlokong, Free State, on 16 August 2026, according to information circulating about the case.

The account claims Molise was at her family home when she was allegedly confronted by a former boyfriend following the breakdown of their relationship.

It is alleged that the man opened fire, striking the young woman several times in front of members of her family. She reportedly suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.

The same account alleges that the man subsequently turned the firearm on himself in what was described as an apparent suicide attempt. He reportedly survived the initial incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.

According to the information provided, the man later died approximately a week after the shooting while receiving medical care.

The reported incident has left Molise’s family and community mourning her death and has raised renewed concerns about violence involving former or current intimate partners.

However, the details have not been independently confirmed through an official police statement or a reliable current news report located during verification. It is therefore unclear whether police have formally confirmed the identities of those involved, the circumstances of the shooting or the reported death of the man who allegedly attacked her.

The incident should be treated as an allegation pending confirmation from law-enforcement authorities or other credible sources.

If confirmed, the case would add to wider concerns about gender-based violence and the dangers that can arise when relationship disputes escalate into violence.

Authorities would ultimately be responsible for establishing the circumstances of the shooting and determining whether any criminal charges or other legal proceedings are applicable.
