ODM SG Heckled, Forced off Stage During Event Attended By Wanga, Waiguru & Others

Dramatic scenes erupted at the Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel in Nairobi after Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Acting Secretary-General Catherine Omanyo faced fierce hostility from a vocal audience.

The high-profile event, convened by the National Gender and Equality Commission, yesterday night drew key political figures, including Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, Hon Passaris, Homabay Governor Gladys Wanga.

What started as a strategic gathering for gender advocacy has quickly spiraled into chaotic disruption as angry participants completely drowned out the party official’s address.

The atmosphere inside the ballroom turned tense the moment Omanyo took to the podium. Attendees shouted her down, relentlessly booing and heckling until she found it impossible to deliver her speech.

The mounting pressure from the agitated crowd ultimately forced her to yield the microphone and return to her seat, leaving fellow leaders watching in astonishment.

Public outrage surrounding her speech has stemmed from her recent defense of the UDA broad-based government arrangements.

Friction within the party leadership following Edwin Sifuna’s removal has also heightened feelings of dissatisfaction among political observers and party supporters alike.

Furthermore, controversial public comments regarding the deployment of political goons have added significant fuel to the growing hostility targeting her leadership.

This hostile reception has highlighted the deep political undertones currently influencing national forums across the country.

While event organizers have attempted to restore order, the disruption has firmly shifted focus away from the commission’s core agenda toward rising political tensions.

The dramatic incident has sent clear ripples through both ODM and broader political circles, showcasing how heightened public scrutiny has continued to challenge key party representatives during public appearances.
