Obuasi SHS Assault Case: He Slapped Me When I Said I Was Menstruating – Victim Recounts Ordeal
A female student from Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS) has shared harrowing details of alleged sexual abuse and physical assault involving the school’s headmaster, Zakaria Abdulai.
Recounting her experience, the student revealed that she was coerced into the headmaster’s official residence. According to the victim, when she attempted to refuse his advances, the headmaster physically assaulted her and forced compliance.
“He pushed me onto the sofa and took off his underwear,” the victim stated. “When I told him I was menstruating, he put his hand into my pant to check if it was true. When I said no, he slapped me and held my head, so I agreed to do it.”
The revelation comes amid broader investigations into severe unrest that previously erupted at the school campus after students confronted the headmaster over misconduct allegations. The incident prompted intervention by law enforcement and Ghana Education Service officials.
Family members and child safety advocates are demanding full accountability and thorough police investigations into how the school administration handled the situation.
Civil rights groups and social advocates have called for stricter vetting processes for educators, emphasizing that school environments must remain safe spaces for students. Police investigations into the headmaster’s conduct and the events at the bungalow are currently ongoing.
