NCIS: New York Season 1 Episode 2 titled Family Business premieres on October 13, 2026 at CBS at 9:00 PM ET. In this episode, the squad investigates a deadly jewelry store robbery involving military explosives that leads to the death of the jewelers' son.
The episode rolls out with the New York squad investigating a robbery. According to the Celebrity Dirty Laundry, the robbery was carried out by using explosives, namely C4. It turns out the NYPD has been trying to locate the robbery crew for some time and this is the first instance of them using explosives. The military explosives killed a man called Ben Gellman, the jeweller's son. Ben sneaked into the shop to show his girlfriend Cornie his grandmother's jewelry.
However, soon the C4 exploded, and the floor under them crashed. The military explosives were previously reported missing. NCIS thus had to find out how those explosives were smuggled, and they checked the nearest naval depot. The naval depot claimed that they were diligent.
However, the NCIS squad was quick to notice that someone was falsifying the records. It turns out Petty Officer Joaquin Ricci disappeared moments after NCIS came in for questioning. Ricci told a buddy that he has a family emergency. He became one of the primary suspects. They put a BOLO on him and Addison, and Wyatt began to look for him. Elsewhere, Nick and Sam started to investigate the crime scene.
Eventually, Sam and Nick met Joaquin Ricci's older brother, Matteo. The brothers have lived together since their parents passed away, and Matteo took Joaquin's custody. Sam was not too sure about Matteo.
While Nick was searching the house, he found an old football photo, and he took it along with him. The squad also found the cleaning can that was used in the robbery. They found two people who were trapped in the back. The two people were the owners of the cleaning company that owned the truck. The investigators found DNA evidence of those who attacked and abducted the cleaning company owners. They found out that the men responsible for the robbery were also in the football photo at the Riccis.
Nick eventually connected the dots of how the suspects knew about Joaquin. They were on the same football team in school under coach Villante. Coach Villante was the one who led them all in the wrong path. It turns out Matteo was a gambling addict, and when he lost all hopes he went to coach Villante. Coach Villante was a loan shark, and Matteo owed him eighty thousand dollars. Matteo decided to sell out his brother, Joaquin, for the money. When Sam brought him in for interrogation, he said that he was also in the football photo. However, he still failed to understand how he destroyed his brother's life.
Sam felt bad for Joaquin. He felt Joaquin wasn't a bad person, but he was forced to commit crimes. Sam pointed out that it must have been Joaquin who tried to save the cleaning company owners' lives. Soon, the crew and Sam had to arrest Joaquin Ricci. Nick suffered a concussion. However, he stopped Villante from escaping.
