Natasha Osawaru Drops 2Baba’s Surname During Edo Assembly Introduction

According to a report by Daily Post on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly and wife of Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has sparked fresh reactions after introducing herself using her maiden surname, Osawaru, instead of Idibia.

The development has renewed public interest in the relationship between the lawmaker and the veteran musician, following reports of possible tensions between the couple in recent months.

In a video shared on her Instagram page, Natasha introduced herself as Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru while addressing proceedings at the Edo State House of Assembly.

Speaking during the session, she said: “Mr Speaker, my name is Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, member representing the very great people of Egor Constituency and, by God’s grace, the minority leader of this House.”

Her decision to use the surname Osawaru rather than Idibia drew attention on social media, with some observers interpreting it as a possible indication of changes in her personal life.

However, neither Natasha nor 2Baba has publicly confirmed that the couple have separated. It also remains unclear whether her use of the surname was connected to the reported marital concerns.

Questions about the couple’s relationship intensified in August after Natasha reportedly made an unexpected appearance at a nightclub in Abuja where 2Baba was scheduled to perform.

A video that subsequently circulated online appeared to show the pair involved in a heated exchange, prompting discussions among social media users about the state of their marriage.

Although the circumstances surrounding the encounter were not fully established, the footage added to speculation about possible disagreements between the couple.

Further attention followed Natasha’s absence from 2Baba’s 51st birthday celebration in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event reportedly brought together members of the singer’s family, including his children and mother, Rose Idibia, alongside several prominent figures in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Among those said to have attended were music executive Kenny Ogungbe, broadcaster Dayo “D1” Adeneye, singer Wande Coal, African China, comedian Ayo Makun, Faze and Tony Tetuila.

Natasha’s absence from the celebration prompted further questions from fans and entertainment observers, particularly against the backdrop of the earlier nightclub incident.

Despite the growing discussions surrounding their relationship, neither Natasha nor 2Baba has publicly provided a detailed explanation of the reports suggesting a possible rift.

The lawmaker’s latest introduction has therefore become another subject of public discussion, with social media users debating whether her decision to use Osawaru rather than Idibia carries any significance for her marriage.

However, the use of her maiden surname during an official legislative session does not, on its own, establish that the couple have separated or that any formal change has been made to her marital status.

Natasha continues to serve as the representative of Egor Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, where she also identifies herself as the minority leader.
