Megyn Kelly Tears Into Trump’s New Press Secretary In Brutal 9-Minute Critique, Says This Is Her ‘Real Goal’
“Part of it is the look, you know. She’s got very heavy makeup on. She’s got the long curls. She’s got some chest showing … Like I think she needs to dial it back. I’m just gonna say, like, I know she’s auditioning for a job on Fox News. They all are,” Kelly said of the controversial new spokesperson.
Zacharia debuted her role at the podium on Tuesday with a rocky start, featuring odd moments where she would just pause and smile, but more notably was her verbal slip-up in which she confused her husband and Trump.
According to Kelly, Zacharia’s end goal like other Republican press secretaries, including her predecessor Karoline Leavitt, is to end up as a Fox News personality.
“Look at Dana Perino; she was too. Like, it’s it’s been a long line of Republican press secretaries whose real goal is to wind up on Fox News,” Kelly, a former Fox News host herself, continued. “I get it, but Roger Ailes will be the first to tell you when you are in a job in which you need to be taken seriously.”
Kelly advised Zacharia to “present as a serious person” while the public gets to know her. She clarified that while she has no problem with her “glam makeup or hair,” Zacharia needs to earn the respect to do so.
“Which means dialing back the makeup, dialing back the over-the-top curls and the hair, and maybe covering up, covering up a little bit more underneath that suit jacket,” Kelly said. “You’re not there to turn anybody on. You’re there to look like a professional.”
Beyond Zacharia’s appearance, Kelly delivered a more optimistic take on the press secretary’s performance amid a barrage of backlash, admitting that while she appeared nervous at the podium, Kelly believes she will do better with time.
“I think she was probably hired because she’s attractive and she must have done a decent job behind the scenes at Truth Social, and Trump was favorably impressed by her and believed that with time she could get there,” Kelly said. “But she’s clearly not there yet.”
