Keffe D Handed 40 Years In Prison For The Murder Of Tupac Shakur
Embattled former gang boss Duane “Keffe D” Davis has been handed 40 years in prison for the murder of rap icon Tupac Shakur.
Keffe D was found guilty of one count of murder with a deadly weapon for Tupac’s killing in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996.
The former gang boss has shared that he will appeal the verdict.
According to prosecutors, Keffe D did not kill Tupac himself but offered the gun and was also the ringleader of the group as captured in his memoir.
Keffe D’s sentencing came after 30 years of conspiracies riddling the hip-hop community.
Additionally, the prosecution team noted that Keffe D spent years boasting about his role in the murder of Tupac, who had global influence.
Speaking in court, Tupac’s sister, Sekyiwa Shakur, testified that his death crippled his family for a long time with affirmations that the rap legend had hoped to help his local community.
“The loss of Tupac, for a long time, crippled my family.” noted Sekyiwa Shakur in part.
Furthermore, she urged the judge to give Keffe D a maximum sentence which will make him regret his actions while in prison that he did to the world and not just her.
Moreover, Tupac’s brother, Maurice Shakur sided with his sister and asked the judge to give Keffe D a maximum sentence.
On the other hand, the judge asked Keffe D if he had anything to say to which he replied with affirmations to appeal the sentence.
Keffe D was convicted for his own words which he publicly shared, noting that he was in the white Cadillac from where the shots were fired killing Tupac.
However, Keffe D argued that his sentiments were exaggerations meant to sell his books and mint money.
