A 20-year-old student at Kitui Teachers College is battling for her life at Kitui County Referral Hospital after she was allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend, a junior secondary school teacher reportedly attached to Katumbu Primary School.

The young woman suffered serious injuries in the incident, which reportedly occurred after the teacher forced her into his house, where a disagreement is said to have erupted.

According to reports, the argument escalated into violence, with the teacher allegedly hitting the student with a hammer before stabbing her on the head with a knife.

She sustained critical injuries and was rushed to hospital, where she remains under medical care.

Reports further indicate that the teacher allegedly attempted to set his house ablaze before injuring himself.

He was subsequently admitted to the same hospital, where he is receiving treatment for injuries believed to have been self-inflicted.

The events that led to the confrontation remain unclear as authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.The student’s mother, Angeline Mbula, said she received information about the incident and travelled from Makueni County to Kitui to check on her daughter.

Upon arriving at the hospital, she reportedly found the young woman in a coma and fighting for her life.

Mbula described her daughter as a disciplined and well-behaved person.

She also disclosed that she had no knowledge of her daughter’s relationship with the teacher accused of assaulting her.

The incident has left the family deeply concerned as they await further information about the student’s recovery.

According to reports, the student said she had known the teacher for approximately 10 months before the incident occurred.

However, the disagreement that allegedly preceded the attack has not been explained, leaving questions about what triggered the confrontation.

Authorities are continuing their investigations to establish the sequence of events and determine the circumstances that led to the alleged assault.

The student remains under medical care at Kitui County Referral Hospital, while investigations into the incident continue.
