After Arsenal Won 3-0, Man United Lost 2-0, Bayern Drew 3-3, Here Is How UEFA CL Table Stands
The UEFA Champions League league-phase standings have changed following Tuesday’s matches, with Arsenal, Barcelona and Sporting CP recording important victories as the race for automatic qualification to the round of 16 intensifies.
Sporting CP strengthened their position after defeating Lens 2-0 away from home on October 13, taking their points tally to six from two matches. The Portuguese side had opened their campaign with a 3-1 victory over Galatasaray.
Arsenal also maintained their impressive start to the competition with a commanding 3-0 win over Lille at the Emirates Stadium. The victory followed their opening 1-0 triumph against Napoli, leaving the Gunners with six points from two matches.
Barcelona were equally impressive, coming from behind to defeat Galatasaray 4-1 in Istanbul. The Spanish giants had started their campaign with a 5-1 victory over Feyenoord, giving them six points from their opening two fixtures.
Bayern Munich, meanwhile, were held to a thrilling 3-3 draw by Norwegian side Viking. The result followed their emphatic 5-0 victory over Bodø/Glimt, leaving the German champions with four points.
Manchester United suffered a setback after losing 2-0 to Atlético Madrid in Spain. United had started their campaign with a 4-0 victory over Sabah, leaving them with three points after two matches.
Elsewhere, Club Brugge stunned Inter Milan with a 4-3 victory, while RB Leipzig defeated PSV Eindhoven 1-0. Villarreal also claimed three points after beating Napoli 3-1.
The results leave several established European clubs under pressure as the competition’s league phase continues.
Under the Champions League’s 36-team format, the top eight teams qualify directly for the round of 16, while clubs finishing ninth to 24th enter the knockout-phase play-offs.
Wednesday’s fixtures include Liverpool against LASK, Real Madrid against Roma and Manchester City against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain.
The standings remain provisional, with more matches expected to reshape the race for qualification.
