Women Gets 18 Month Prison Sentence and Forfeits Car After Cleveland Takeover. But They Keep Happening
Image Credit: 19 News / YouTube. A Cleveland street-takeover sentencing video has roughly 375,000 views on YouTube, although the hearing took place on July 15, 2025. Police have since announced new enforcement operations in Cleveland and Los Angeles County.
In 19 Newsâ courtroom coverage, Ashlyn Rogers, a Port Clinton resident who was 23 at sentencing, received 18 months in prison. Her case grew out of the September 28â29, 2024, takeovers that blocked intersections across Cleveland.
Rogers pleaded guilty on June 10, 2025, to aggravated riot and disrupting public service. Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Kira Krivosh handed down the sentence a little over a month later.
She also had to forfeit her white 2020 Infiniti Q50 and her cellphone.
Now, citizens are calling for similarly harsh punishments for continued takeovers in their cities.

âI want to express that I take full responsibility for my actions,â Rogers said. âI understand that what I did was wrong and I deeply regret the choices that led me here.â
Her attorney argued that her reputation and her familyâs would remain tarnished for a very long time, possibly forever. Krivosh chose the maximum prison term on the disrupting-public-service count.
In its November 2024 indictment announcement, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutorâs Office identified Rogers as an organizer who used Instagram to give participants instructions and post new locations. Around 1:17 a.m. on September 29, she drove the Infiniti at a takeover at West 25th Street and Lorain Avenue.
Approximately 80 to 100 vehicles blocked all four sides of the intersection while cars drag-raced and performed burnouts and donuts. Fireworks went off, and an RTA bus could not proceed through.
Elsewhere during the broader takeover sequence, other participants delayed ambulances and blocked a fire engine. People jumped onto police-vehicle hoods, and one participant shot an officer twice with an airsoft gun while police helped an ambulance through another intersection.
Rogers was arrested on October 22, 2024, several weeks after the takeovers.
The Cleveland Division of Police conducted a two-day operation on August 8 and 9, 2026, after learning that people from outside the city planned to attend takeovers involving dirt bikes, ATVs, and other vehicles. Preliminary results included seven arrests, eight vehicles towed, four dirt bikes or ATVs towed, and three handguns recovered.
âYou can be arrested. Your vehicle can be towed,â Police Chief Dorothy Todd warned people traveling to Cleveland for the activity.
In Los Angeles, FOX 11 followed officers during the September 5, 2026, Operation Street Sweeper crackdown in Harbor Gateway. LAPD surrounded more than 700 people near South Figueroa Street and West Alondra Boulevard, making 69 arrests, issuing 570 citations, and impounding 200 vehicles.
Officers moved in from multiple directions to contain the gathering rather than let it scatter. âWe want to send a message to these people that everyoneâs going to jail,â Deputy Chief Marc Reina said during the preparations.
A nearby resident welcomed the operation, describing noise that woke neighborhood children and the smell of burning rubber reaching homes. Chief Jim McDonnell also wanted legislation allowing the city to seize and potentially crush vehicles used in takeovers.
Later that month, MyNewsLA reported that the Los Angeles County Sheriffâs Department conducted three operations September 25â27 in Compton, Carson, and the area patrolled by Century Sheriffâs Station. Those operations produced 38 arrests, 127 citations, and 25 vehicles towed.
Rogersâs one-year aggravated-riot sentence ran concurrently with the longer disrupting-public-service term, giving her a total sentence of 18 months, rather than 30. The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction now lists her status as âAPA SUPERVISION,â referring to Adult Parole Authority supervision. Her entry lists December 7, 2026, as the transitional-control/treatment-transfer sentence-expiration date.
