We Grew Up In Festac Town Lagos I Became The Ghetto Guy Because We Had To Move Somewhere Else — Lanre Afod
The Nollywood actor and producer, Lanre Afod, has opened up on his upbringing, saying he grew up in Festac town Lagos before the family moved to a ghetto area that shaped his street confidence.
Speaking on Biola Adebayo Ent, Afod said the ghetto background helps him when people try to bully him on set. He said the street swag stays with him.
He said he later travelled to the UK, where he stayed for a while before returning to Nigeria.
In Afod’s words: “First, we grew up in Festac town Lagos, and at a point I became the ghetto guy because we had to move to a ghetto area. So I grew in that kind of neighborhood, so there’s a little bit of the swag. And that has really helped me, it has shaped me also, because sometimes the kind of job that we do, you get into some certain areas, some people want to just look at you, they want to bully you and you show them that the street is there as well. Somewhere along the line I went to the UK, I stayed in the UK for a while.”
