According to FOX 8, Canton police received a report of the escape around 7:15 p.m. Officers discovered that the women had fled the facility and entered a nearby nature preserve.

Investigators have issued warrants for both women as the search continues.

Authorities believe the women crossed the facility’s roof before fleeing the property.

Officers initially received information that the women might still be on the roof. However, a police drone confirmed they had already left the building.

Investigators found a pair of white tennis shoes near the facility. A K-9 unit also discovered discarded dark-colored clothing while searching the nearby nature preserve.

Police reported that one woman wore all black during the escape. The other wore a gray sweatshirt and black pants.

Despite the search efforts, officers could not locate either woman.

Investigators believe the women may have planned their escape before leaving the facility.

According to a police report, the women allegedly intended to meet someone near a Walmart along U.S. Route 62. From there, they reportedly planned to travel to Florida.

Cleveland 19 also reported that police are investigating a possible inappropriate relationship between Ohler and a recently terminated correctional center employee. Authorities have not established whether that alleged relationship played a role in the escape.

The facility’s executive director, Michael Beebe, told Jordan Miller News that Ohler was serving time for a felony involving failure to comply with a police officer’s order or signal.

Skerrett was at the facility for a felony involving the illegal conveyance of drugs onto the grounds of a government facility.

The U.S. Marshals Service is assisting authorities in their search.
