REVEALED: Top Opposition Leader Lands in Trouble as Details Emerge That Ruto Bought His House

Nyoro spoke on Tuesday, October 13, while addressing supporters in Kimana town, Kajiado County, during the People’s Tour. Jubilee Party leader Fred Matiang’i accompanied him.

The dispute followed comments Methu made during a television interview on Sunday, October 11. Methu alleged that Nyoro was acting as an informant for Ruto within the opposition and suggested Matiang’i could also be working in the president’s interests.

Nyoro rejected the accusations and challenged Methu’s right to question other leaders’ commitment to the opposition. He alleged that Ruto had purchased the house where Methu lives. The claim was presented as Nyoro’s allegation and was not independently confirmed in the report.

The Kiharu MP urged opposition leaders to put aside personal disagreements, including anger, envy and jealousy, and focus on shared political goals. He also criticised what he described as a culture of deception in politics.

Nyoro said he joined the opposition by his own decision and would not accept pressure from other leaders over his political choices. He was elected Kiharu MP on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket in 2022.

His relationship with Ruto deteriorated after he was removed as chairperson of the National Assembly’s Budget and Appropriations Committee in March 2025. He later established the People’s Party of Kenya as his political vehicle.

Methu serves as the designated secretary-general and acting spokesperson of the Democracy for Citizens Party. His remarks have added to questions about trust and unity within the opposition as leaders consider how to challenge Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

Nyoro has not publicly confirmed whether he plans to seek the presidency or defend his Kiharu parliamentary seat in 2027.
