Real Madrid will ‘do everything’ to reduce Vinicius’ suspension despite growing Clasico doubts

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Tuesday October 13, 2026, Real Madrid will do everything possible to reduce Vinicius Junior’s suspension following his red card against Villarreal, although the club are increasingly doubtful that he will be available for El Clasico against Barcelona.

According to reports, Los Blancos expect the Brazilian winger to receive a three-match ban after his dismissal during their 1-0 victory over Villarreal. The club are hoping to reduce the punishment to two matches through an appeal, but that would still leave him unavailable for the crucial clash against Barcelona on October 25.

Vinicius was sent off after pulling Villarreal defender Nathan Saliba’s hair during an attacking move. The incident was reviewed by VAR, resulting in a straight red card and the disallowing of a potential Real Madrid goal.

His reaction to the referee following the dismissal could also increase the severity of the punishment, making the disciplinary process another concern for the Spanish giants.

Despite the growing doubts over his availability for El Clasico, Real Madrid believe an appeal is worthwhile. Reducing the suspension would allow Vinicius to return sooner and minimise the impact of his absence on their La Liga campaign.

Meanwhile, manager Jose Mourinho must consider alternative attacking options ahead of the meeting with Barcelona. Yan Diomande, who scored the winning goal against Villarreal, could be handed a starting role, while Arda Guler may be given greater creative responsibility.

Mourinho could also consider moving Kylian Mbappe to the left wing and using a conventional centre-forward to lead the attack.

With Barcelona presenting a major challenge, Real Madrid will hope to find a solution to Vinicius’ absence. However, the club must prepare for the possibility of facing their rivals without one of their most important attacking players.
