“Pick Another Candidate”- VDM Tells Labour Party To Drop Ishaku Abbo Over Assault Allegations

Ratel President and social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), has called on the Labour Party to replace Senator Ishaku Abbo as its governorship candidate in Adamawa State, threatening to expose further allegations against the former lawmaker.

VDM made the demand in a video shared on Monday, October 12, 2026, in which he alleged that Abbo was linked to the assault of a 13-year-old girl. The activist also claimed that other individuals had contacted him with similar allegations against the senator.

Addressing the Labour Party, VDM urged the party leadership to reconsider its choice of candidate, insisting that Abbo should be removed from the governorship race.

“Labour Party, first you have to pick another candidate from now as I’m speaking now. Pick another candidate because this guy would not fly,” he said.

The activist also declared that he would use his platform and supporters to pursue the allegations against Abbo, arguing that anyone facing such accusations should not be allowed to occupy the position of governor.

Describing his movement as “the biggest movement in the country,” VDM vowed to intensify his campaign against the senator and threatened to ensure that the controversy continued to follow his political ambitions.

“A grappist will not be a governor in Nigeria, and you will answer for your crime,” he stated firmly.

VDM further addressed Abbo directly, suggesting that the senator might respond to his comments with legal action or a police petition. However, the activist maintained that he was prepared to face any legal challenge that might arise from his public statements.

He said he was “well equipped” to respond to any court letters or petitions allegedly initiated against him.

Abbo, a former senator who represented Adamawa North, previously attracted widespread public attention in 2019 after a video emerged showing him assaulting a woman inside an adult toy shop in Abuja.

The incident generated considerable public outrage and led to legal proceedings against the former lawmaker. According to the account provided, he was subsequently convicted by a Federal Capital Territory High Court.

VDM’s latest comments come as Abbo pursues the governorship of Adamawa State under the Labour Party. The activist’s demand for his replacement has introduced a fresh controversy into the senator’s political journey.
