NDC Spokesman Reacts As Wike Claims He Chased Zamfara Gov, Dauda Lawal Away When He Was In PDP

Theo Abu Agada, spokesperson for the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), has reacted to a claim by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, that he chased Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal away from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike made the claim on Tuesday during his October edition of the monthly media chat, where he discussed his political disagreements with some PDP figures and the circumstances surrounding Lawal’s departure from the party.

Speaking during the programme, Wike challenged the Zamfara governor to explain why he left the PDP, alleging that Lawal had access to substantial financial resources but could not withstand the political pressure within the party.

ā€œAsk the Governor of Zamfara (Dauda Lawal), when he was in PDP, I chased him away. He had money, plus other money I hear he is keeping for somebody. Why did he run away from PDP? He couldn’t withstand the firework,ā€ Wike said.

Reacting to the statement, Agada posted a brief message on social media that appeared to allude to the political implications of Wike’s remarks ahead of the 2031 election cycle.

ā€œ2031 is the real deal. Be there,ā€ the NDC spokesperson wrote.

He added, ā€œThey are going to so mess him up.ā€

Agada did not provide further details about his remarks or explicitly explain who he believed would face political difficulties.

Wike’s comments have drawn attention to his ongoing political disagreements with figures associated with the PDP, while Agada’s response suggests that the NDC spokesperson expects further political developments in the coming years.
