Kitui Teachers College student fighting for her life after macabre attack by lover
A 20-year-old female student at Kitui Teachers College is fighting for her life at Kitui County Referral Hospital after she was allegedly attacked by her lover, a Junior Secondary School (JSS) teacher.
According to reports, the teacher, who is said to be from Katumbu Primary School, allegedly forced the student to his home, where a disagreement reportedly ensued. During the confrontation, he allegedly hit her with a hammer and stabbed her severely on the head with a knife, leaving her with critical injuries.
The man is also reported to have attempted to set his house on fire before stabbing himself. He is currently admitted to the same hospital, where he is receiving treatment for injuries believed to have been self-inflicted.
The student’s mother, Angeline Mbula, said she was informed about the incident and travelled from Makueni County to Kitui, only to find her daughter in a coma and fighting for her life.
Mbula described her daughter as well-behaved and said she was unaware that she was in a relationship with the man accused of attacking her.
The student reportedly said she had known the man for approximately 10 months.
The circumstances surrounding the incident, including what triggered the confrontation, remain unclear as investigations by the relevant authorities continue.
