Judge Judy went on a blistering rant about America’s haters in a rare interview about her politics, bashing those who immigrate to the US only to complain about it, suggesting that if they don’t like the country, they should leave. Judy Sheindlin, 83, the famous judge who ruled daytime television for decades, gave an impassioned response about America in a recent interview with USA Today from her home in Connecticut. ‘If you don’t like this country, go somewhere else,’ she declared. ‘Don’t come to the greatest country in the world, the most successful country in the world and say, “I want to change it.” There are other countries that have something else that you want? Go there.’ Sheindlin explained that America is a capitalist country that ‘revered excellence,’ blasting those who advocate for socialism or socialist policies. ‘Well, everybody’s not equal. Some people are tall. Some people are short. Some people are musical. Some people are not. Some people have big breasts. Some people have no breasts. They’re different,’ she continued. Her comments quickly went viral, sparking a firestorm on social media and becoming a topic on The View.
The hosts of The View pushed back on Sheindlin’s comments, with Ana Navarro arguing: ‘If you want things to change in the government, you stay, you fight, you vote, you organize, and you are part of the change.’ Sunny Hostin went as far as to say that Sheindlin’s comments reflected a ‘MAGA message.’ But Sara Haines backed Sheindlin’s sentiment, adding that if migrants want to ‘inflate religion into our laws’ or change the ideas of a nation, they should move to another country.
Sheindlin stood by her stance, telling Fox News: ‘It’s gonna take a lot more than Ana Navarro to shut me up.’ She argued that America was ‘founded on certain principles,’ adding: ‘And when you say, “Well, we don’t want capitalism anymore, we want socialism,” that’s where I draw the line. Because then you are fiddling around with what this country is about.’ Sheindlin compared America to a beautiful house, arguing that if you are let into someone’s home, you do not demand that it be decorated to your liking.
She clarified that she is not against tweaking or improving, but objected to ‘burning’ the house down. Sheindlin typically avoided politics during her three-decade tenure on Judge Judy. However, she endorsed Michael Bloomberg for president in 2020 and Nikki Haley in 2024. She joked in her recent interview with USA Today that she does not anticipate another candidate asking for her endorsement after the two candidates she endorsed lost. ‘I haven’t dipped my toes in politics since, because it’s a disgusting business,’ she added. Before her tenure on television, Sheindlin was a family court judge. Her son, Judge Adam Levy, has since taken over the family business and stars in a similar program, Adam’s Law.
