Government in Total Panic as Former President Makes This Major Move

Former Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) President Joseph Kabila has launched a new political-military coalition bringing together leaders of the M23 rebel movement and other opposition figures.

The new alliance, known as the Front pour la Refondation de la Nation (FRN), will be led by Kabila. Its formation brings together several influential figures at a time when eastern Congo continues to face serious security challenges and political tensions.

Among the senior leaders of the coalition are Corneille Nangaa, Bertrand Bisimwa, Freddy Kaniki and Sultani Makenga. They are associated with the M23 movement and will serve in key leadership positions within the new alliance.

The coalition is expected to draw attention because of the involvement of Kabila, who served as president of the DRC from 2001 to 2019. His decision to lead an alliance involving rebel leaders could have important implications for the country’s political and security situation.

The eastern part of the DRC has experienced years of armed conflict, with civilians facing displacement, insecurity and the destruction of property. The M23 rebellion has been a major part of the conflict, which has also strained relations between the DRC and neighbouring countries.

The creation of the FRN raises questions about the coalition’s objectives, its political plans and the role it intends to play in addressing the country’s long-running crisis.
