Driver arrested following hit-and-run crash on Hearne Avenue that injured mother, 2 children
SHREVEPORT, La. — Shreveport police have arrested Marcus C. Lacour, 49, following a hit-and-run crash that left a 10-year-old girl with life-threatening injuries and injured her mother and younger brother.
It happened Monday just after 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of Hearne Avenue and Morningside Drive. According to a witness, a black vehicle struck the mother and her two children as they were crossing the street near the 5400 block of Hearne Avenue. The vehicle then left the scene.
The Shreveport Fire Department transported all three victims to Ochsner LSU Health. The 10-year-old girl sustained life-threatening injuries, while her 28-year-old mother and 5-year-old brother were listed in stable condition with minor injuries.
Investigators determined that a black 2023 Toyota Corolla traveling south hit the family. Officers later located the vehicle in the 2700 block of Waggoner Avenue, recovered video footage, and documented the scene.
Lacour was identified as the driver, and officers took him into custody without incident at a nearby address. Authorities also discovered that his driver’s license was suspended and the vehicle was uninsured.
Following an interview at the Shreveport Police Department Traffic Bureau, Lacour was arrested and booked on one felony count and two misdemeanor counts of hit-and-run driving. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could be added.
