DavoDani Microfinance Bank Strengthens Client Base With Free Cancer Screening To Mark Customer Service Week

DavoDani Microfinance Bank Limited has restated its commitment to its dual mission of economic empowerment and social wellbeing with a free cancer screening for its customers to mark the 2026 Customer Service Week.

The health outreach, which was held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the bank’s head office located at 28, Ogudu Road, Ojota, Lagos, was designed to promote early detection and quality health among its teeming customer base.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of the bank, Mr. John Ejenavi Ologe, said it is meaningless to give money to an unhealthy customer, noting that the bank is adhering to the social mission of modern microfinance.

“What is the use of giving money to an unhealthy customer? A healthy customer is key. A man or woman who has no house, who has no address, who is sick, cannot trade effectively. So beyond economic value, we look at social issues,” he said.

Ologe explained that the founder of microfinance banking, Muhammad Yunus of Bangladesh, envisioned microfinance beyond loans, but as a tool to better the lives of the people.

He said, “Microfinance has two key missions – the economic mission and the social mission. What we are doing today is fulfilling the social mission. This programme gives us opportunity to identify health challenges that are more than economic issues and help tackle them.”

He disclosed that the bank, which has operated for over 12 years and has 14 branches across strategic locations in Lagos including Arena, Egbeda, Ikeja, Ajegunle, Alaba, Trade Fair, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Ajah, recently raised N5 billion from the capital market to maintain market liquidity and support customer businesses.

He added that the bank was rated by Agusto & Co. Limited and DataPro Limited, which boosted investor confidence for the capital raise.

“With over 40 million naira in customer base built on trust and confidence, we are liquid enough to deliver needed services. Our plan is to migrate to a regional bank in the near future,” he stated.

The bank also noted that it does not demand medical records before granting loans, but platforms like the screening create an opportunity to identify health issues early.

Earlier, the Chief Operating Officer of the bank, Mr. Ahmeed Aminu, said this year’s Customer Service Week, themed “The Extra Mile”, is a global event to appreciate both internal and external customers.

“For us, going the extra mile means ensuring our customers are in good health. Many of them are busy with their daily businesses and don’t know their health status. This is an opportunity to run tests and get proper medical advice,” Aminu said.

He added that despite the rain on the day staff went out for road sensitization around Ogudu, Ojota and environs, the bank remains committed to service.

“Come rain, come sunshine, we are there for our customers. Our turnaround time is very fast and we go all out to give the best service,” he said.

Aminu noted that the bank offers competitive interest rates as low as 3 percent, describing it as one of the best in the Nigerian market, and assured that depositors’ funds are safe.

“We have customers who have been saving and fixing funds with us for 12 years without any issue. When it comes to guaranteeing prosperity and financial freedom, DavoDani is there,” he said.

Collaborating partner, Dr. Yewande Omikunle-Ogunbiyi, Director of Public Affairs, OluKoye Foundation, a breast cancer charity, described the collaboration as relevant, especially as October is globally recognised for breast cancer awareness.

She said early detection remains key to reducing mortality from breast cancer among women.

Activities lined up for the Customer Service Week included roadshow sensitization on the bank’s presence, customer appreciation visits, and the breast cancer screening exercise which commenced at 10 a.m. and was open to loan customers, savings and fixed deposit customers.

The bank called on prospective customers and residents of Lagos to take advantage of its services for financial freedom and prosperity.
