Bandits kill immigration officer, burn body in Niger

Armed bandits have allegedly killed an officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Assistant Superintendent of Immigration I Ibrahim Usman Babagiwa, and burnt his body following an attack on a surveillance team in Woko village, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.The incident occurred on October 6, 2026, along the Tungan Taya-Woko axis, where Babagiwa and another officer, an Inspector of Immigration, were conducting a surveillance operation when they came under attack.
