ATM VS MNU: Man Utd Official Starting Line-up Against Atletico Madrid

According to a report by London Evening Standard on Tuesday October 13, 2026, Manchester United will be without Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo for their Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid after both players picked up injuries during Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.

The two players started against Spurs but missed Monday’s training session at Carrington, raising concerns about their availability for the European encounter. Michael Carrick later confirmed that neither player travelled to Spain.

“They’ve not travelled, they both picked up issues in the game on Saturday against Spurs and we were working through that, to see what that looks like,” Carrick explained.

“At the moment, they are not ready for the game tomorrow,” the United manager added.

Shaw’s absence creates another defensive headache for Carrick, with Patrick Dorgu and Noussair Mazraoui also unavailable. The left-back was substituted during stoppage time against Tottenham and was subsequently seen limping.

Diogo Dalot starts at right-back, while Leny Yoro partners Ayden Heaven in central defence. Lisandro Martinez fills the left-back position as United attempt to overcome their defensive injury problems.

Senne Lammens retains his place in goal, while Carlos Baleba joins Youri Tielemans in midfield following Mainoo’s absence. Andrey Santos also earns a rare starting opportunity in the middle of the pitch.

Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Bryan Mbeumo lead United’s attacking lineup as Carrick prepares his team for a challenging European test in Madrid.

Manchester United starting XI: Lammens; Dalot, Yoro, Martinez, Heaven; Tielemans, Baleba, Santos; Fernandes, Rashford; Mbeumo.

Substitutes: Darlow, Mee, Amass, Armer, De Ligt, Maguire, Mount, Fletcher, Lacey, Amad, Cunha and Zirkzee..
