ARS 0-0 LIL: Four Worst Arsenal Players in First-Half of The UCL Clash

According to a report by Flashscore on Tuesday October 13, 2026, Arsenal were held to a goalless draw by Lille at half-time after failing to convert several promising opportunities in their clash on Tuesday.

Despite creating chances through Bruno Guimaraes and Mikel Merino, the Gunners were let down by poor finishing, inaccurate deliveries and an offside call that interrupted their attacking momentum. Four players, in particular, endured a frustrating opening 45 minutes.

Eberechi Eze endured a disappointing first half after wasting a golden opportunity to put Arsenal ahead. In the 31st minute, the attacker found himself beyond Lille’s defensive line, but the assistant referee raised the flag for offside. His biggest disappointment came six minutes later when he received an excellent pass inside the penalty area. Despite being only six yards from goal, Eze miskicked his effort, allowing goalkeeper Berke Ozer to collect the ball comfortably.

Mikel Merino missed two significant chances that could have given Arsenal the advantage before the break. In the 22nd minute, he rose to meet a cross and directed a close-range header towards goal, but Ozer produced an excellent save to deny him. Thirteen minutes later, Merino had another opportunity when he reacted quickly to a rebound. However, he sent his effort high over the crossbar. The midfielder was also booked in the 29th minute for an earlier foul, adding to a frustrating half.

Noni Madueke struggled to make his attacking contributions count despite getting involved in several promising situations. His cross in the 18th minute failed to find a teammate, while another delivery in the 27th minute was easily cleared by Lille’s defence. Madueke also took Arsenal’s corners late in the half, but his delivery in the 44th minute was comfortably dealt with. His subsequent corner in stoppage time was headed away by a defender.

Viktor Gyokeres failed to make a meaningful impact in the first half. In the 37th minute, the striker timed his run too early and was caught offside, bringing Arsenal’s attacking move to an end. With the Gunners creating several opportunities around the penalty area, they needed greater precision in their forward movement.
