All Primary and Secondary Schools in Kenya To Close At Exactly This Date Next Week
Schools across Kenya are preparing for a major transition in the 2026 academic calendar as learners complete their studies and get ready for national examinations scheduled to take place in the coming weeks.
The period is expected to be particularly important for Grade 6 and Grade 9 learners, as well as Form Four candidates preparing to sit examinations that will influence their next stages of education.
According to the reported school calendar, learning institutions are expected to close on Saturday, October 24, 2026, marking a significant date for learners, teachers and parents as the examination season gets underway.
However, parents and guardians have been advised to confirm the closure arrangements through official Ministry of Education communications before making plans.
Grade 6 learners are scheduled to sit the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) from October 26 to October 29, 2026. The assessment will evaluate their progress under the Competency-Based Curriculum as they prepare to move to the next level of learning.
Meanwhile, Grade 9 candidates are expected to undertake the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) between October 26 and November 5, 2026. The assessment will play an important role in determining learners’ readiness to transition to senior school.
Form Four candidates will also face a crucial period as they prepare for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), scheduled to run from November 2 to November 20, 2026.
The examinations will mark the end of secondary education for thousands of candidates across the country.
As the dates approach, schools are expected to intensify revision programmes while parents support learners through adequate preparation and encouragement.
Candidates have been urged to remain focused, follow examination guidelines and use the remaining time wisely to improve their performance.
