“Somebody Must Have a Mental Problem to Meet Fuel at ₦195 and Now Pay ₦1,500” – Kenneth Okonkwo

Kenneth Okonkwo has questioned why Nigerians would vote for the same politician again despite the increase in fuel prices and the depreciation of the naira, citing both changes to explain his position.

Speaking on Channels Television, Okonkwo compared the fuel price of ₦195 per litre with the ₦1,500 per litre he referenced, saying continued support for the politician was difficult for him to understand.

“Somebody must have a mental problem to meet fuel at the cost of ₦195 per litre. And now you’re paying ₦1,500 inexplicably per litre, and you’re voting for the person. Something is wrong,” he said.

He also contrasted an exchange rate of about ₦450 to the dollar with the rate approaching ₦2,000 that he cited, questioning why voters would still support the politician.

Okonkwo further defended the argument behind the controversial “thief or madman” remark, saying he believed those who could afford certain lifestyles and continued to support the politician might be benefiting from corruption.

“When he alluded that you must be a thief, he was simply saying you must be a beneficiary of such corruption to be able to afford such lifestyle that will make you to say you want to vote for such a person again,” he said.

He ended his argument by asking listeners to consider the cost of filling a 100-litre SUV tank. At the price of ₦1,500 per litre he cited, filling the tank would cost ₦150,000.
