Rufai Oseni Has Never Been a Journalist and Cannot Be One Until He Attends Journalism School—Igbokwe

According to a post shared by Joe Igbokwe on his official Facebook page on the 12th October, 2026, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain has criticised Arise News presenter Rufai Oseni, questioning his professional background and calling on him to undergo formal journalism training.

Igbokwe wrote, “Rufai Oseni of Arise TV has never been a Journalist and he cannot be one until he goes to the School of Journalism to polish himself. He has been a bully for years now. It is time to clear the Augean Stable.”

The APC chieftain has previously accused the broadcaster of treating guests unfairly and called on Arise News management to address his concerns.

In November 2023, Igbokwe publicly urged Arise News to either dismiss Oseni or send him for further training. According to a report published by CKN Nigeria on November 4, 2023, Igbokwe complained that the presenter’s approach to interviewing guests was confrontational and argued that he needed to learn the principles of professional broadcasting.

Oseni has built a career in broadcasting, working in radio before joining Arise News in 2019. In a February 2023 interview with Tribune Online, he discussed his experience across different media platforms, including radio, magazine editing and newspaper writing. He also explained that his educational background was not exclusively focused on journalism, although he had undertaken media-related courses and training.

More recently, Oseni’s interviewing style has continued to generate public debate. In September 2026, a confrontation involving the broadcaster and Lere Olayinka, an aide to Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, sparked discussions about journalistic objectivity, the conduct of interview guests and the boundaries of challenging public officials.
